Diablo 3 beta stuck updating files

Rated 4.50/5 based on 560 customer reviews

After leaving the installer for ~30 minutes, it finally brings up an error stating it could not run the Blizzard agent; This gives me an error code - BLZPTS00007 - which gives me a few more google hits including a seemingly official guide on how to troubleshoot agent issues on Battle.net, however performing the steps listed under 'Advanced Troubleshooting' still hasn't resolved my problem.

How can I get past "Updating setup files..." when reinstalling Diablo 3, and what is error BLZPTS0007?

Next time you run the launcher it should skip the 'Updating Tools' part and begin downloading the patch/update whatever it happens to be. EDIT: I would like to add that I personally have not had this issue since the last tools update (the one a few days ago, not patch 16). But as the shadow once again crawls across our world...

This is the only way I've ever been able to get by the "Stuck at 60% Updating Tools" issue. Not sure if they 'fixed' it or if my Windows finally 'just' started to let it work. Running on Vista 64-bit myself, and got into this problem too. and the stench of terror drifts on a bitter wind...

I remember reading something before about some agents or something a while back but can't find the threads and not sure if that's my problem. What I did: Run launcher, it'll stick at 60% Open Task Manager and Kill Open C: Program Data/Battle.net/Agent/Agent.868 Run Agent.

The Blizzard desktop application uses a process called Agent to install and patch Blizzard games.

The steps below may resolve problems in which Agent can’t download data or install files.

If your region is currently patching or undergoing maintenance there might be a known issue affecting all players.
